Toys decorated the meeting of the Governor and State Cabinet today in Tallahassee. Local Marines brought the toys to encourage others to donate to their “Toys for Tots” toy drive. Major Ray Spalding says the effort was expanded this year to include neighboring counties in the Big Bend.

“Last year we had 28,00 toys that we collected and we were able to serve about 4, 000 children,” Spalding said. “This year, we’ve received so far 20, 000 toys and have already serviced 4,000 children and we’re still counting. So we’re looking for a really good year this year.”

People donating are asked to bring toys unwrapped to a donation site.
