Governor Announces New Gaming Compact
April 22nd, 2009 by flanewsGovernor Charlie Crist announced a new Seminole gaming proposal this afternoon.
The plan would pump 600 million dollars into the state’s checking account in 2010. In 2011, the state would get 500 million dollars. The new compact is almost identical to the original plan, but the new plan allows the state to get most of the money up front. Crist says his deal will help keep education funded through the state’s economic downturn. The plan still needs legislative approval. Right now the House and the Senate are warring over their drastically different proposals.
