Stimulus Confusion

November 5th, 2009 by flanews

Governor Charlie Crist now says he didn’t endorse the federal stimulus package, even though he appeared on stage with President Barack Obama in February on the president’s tour to rally support for the bill. Crist has been trying to distance himself from Obama ever since he entered the US Senate race. Reporters asked Crist about his surprising comments on the stimulus package this morning.

Reporter: I understand you told CNN last night you did not endorse the president’s initial stimulus package. Is that correct? Did we misunderstand something earlier in the year?

Crist: I don’t think so. The bill that pasted wasn’t exactly what I would want to vote for but it’s what passed and once that happens I think you need to realize you want to do everything you possibly can to fight for Florida and our fellow Floridians.

Crist’s comments have spawned attacks from conservative groups. The Club for Growth has created an internet ad showing Crist standing with Obama and saying quote: “We know that it’s important that we pass this stimulus package.”
