Whitney Ray
January 24th, 2008 by Mike Vasilinda
Whitney Ray covers the decisions and policies that affect the lives of people across the state. Whitney joined the Tallahassee bureau in January 2008.
Whitney began his broadcast career in 2001 at CBS affiliate, KFSM, located in Fort Smith and Fayetteville, Arkansas. At that time he was still a student at the University of Arkansas. After graduation, he moved to the NBC affiliate KNWA, where he quickly moved up the ladder to become the area’s youngest chief photographer. When a reporter slot came open, he transferred to that position, and from there he was promoted to bureau chief, covering Benton County, the home of Wal-Mart. Whitney was instrumental in breaking several major news stories in that market. He also covered statewide news and traffic as a fill-in anchor for News Talk 1030 on radio station KFAY.
Whitney has been vacationing in Florida since his early teens and is excited to be living here full time. When he’s not at the beach or hiking, Whitney enjoys playing basketball, reading and watching sports.
