The Florida Department of Motor Vehicles is helping parents better prepare for an emergency. <\/p>\n

The DMV is taking its mobile licensing offices to college campus to help students register their Emergency Contact Information in the ECI database. Law enforcement officers access the database to help contact parents when their children are in danger. The DMV is also asking parents to have an ID card made for their younger children. DMV Spokeswoman Ann Nucatola says having an ID made allows law enforcement to speed up their search efforts if a child is lost. <\/p>\n

?When a child has an Identification card, that will give law enforcement access to a picture right away. And as you know that is vital in a situation where a child is missing,? said Nucatola. <\/p>\n

Since the programs inception in 2007, 2.3 million people have registered their information in the ECI. People can sign up at their local DMV, online, or for at any of the state mobile licensing offices.
