The Florida Senate Rules Committee today teed up a new fifteen week abortion ban for a vote by the full Senate, where the measure is almost certainly going be approved and sent to the Governor. But as Mike Vasilinda tells us, the bill has already faced a bumpy path that is likely to continue.<\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/p>\nOn January 28th, Public speakers at the House Health Care Appropriations Committee were given just 30 seconds to speak. Tensions boiled. She supported the amendment for rape or incest.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flanews.com\/still0221_00006\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-73981\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Still0221_00006-200x113.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.flanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Still0221_00006-200x113.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.flanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Still0221_00006-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.flanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Still0221_00006.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Bill Snyder of Monticello, asked the committee to vote no on the exception.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cExecute the rapist and not the innocent unborn child\u201d he said.<\/p>\nAn amendment to provide more conception was defeated as well and the bill remained intact.<\/p>\nRoe v wade currently allows abortions through twenty-four weeks.\u201d<\/p>\nBut lawmakers are counting on the US Supreme Court to rule favorably on a Mississippi law that bans abortions after fifteen weeks.<\/p>\nDespite the tensions with Roe, Sponsor Kelli Stargel contends the bill is constitutional.<\/p>\n\u201cJust because one court deemed something awhile back, doesn\u2019t mean it can\u2019t be revisited, and that\u2019s what your are seeing\u201d she told us.<\/p>\nA US Supreme Court ruling in the Mississippi case is expected in May or June.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nAfter passage today, the legislation heads for the Senate Floor and could be voted on as early as this week.
