Property Tax Break
June 1st, 2011 by flanewsProperty Appraisers are trying to reach Florida soldiers in an effort to lower their property taxes.
Today is the deadline for Florida soldiers to take advantage of a tax break. The tax break is available to anyone who was deployed in 2010. The problem is many of those soldiers are back overseas. Leon County Property Appraiser Bert Hartsfield, along with property appraisers in other Florida counties, are giving the soldiers more time to apply for the exemption.
“This is a June deadline that they’ve implemented under the law, but it allows extensions and we will allow every extension we can find to make sure those individuals who were deployed in 2010 can get this exemption for the time that they served,” said Hartsfield.
The property appraisers will also work with family members of the soldiers to get the paperwork done while their loved-one is out of the country.
