Election Eve Early Voting

March 14th, 2016 by Mike Vasilinda

More than half a million absentee ballots have yet to returned for tomorrows Presidential Preference Primary. but as Mike Vasilinda tells us, the state is setting records for early voting in a Presidential preference primary.

On election eve, One million one hundred fifty-five thousand Republicans have already voted. 849 thousand Democrats have cast their ballots. Mail ballots outnumber early votes by nearly three hundred thousand.

Here in the state capitol, more than four thousand no party voters dumped that designation so that they could vote in the Presidential Preference Primary.

Florida’s primary is winner take all. At stake are 99 delegates in the GOP Primary, The winner take all was once thought to be helpful to favorite sons Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, but no longer. Still, Republican party Chairman Blaise Ingoglia is pleased with the date and the activity in Florida.

“We moved the Primary to March 15th because we know that we wanted it to be winner take all and we wanted Florida was important, so its playing out to be that way.”

On Saturday, Trump tweeted twice about voter fraud in the state,  belittling Rubio and sayings his state chairman and minions are working overtime trying to rig the vote. A second post says the Trump campaign is asking law enforcement to check for dishonest early voting…but both the Division of Elections and the Department of Law Enforcement say no complaints have been received.

“I’m calling to ask you to vote for Mr. Trump tomorrow.”

Tuesdays results could be the end of Rubio’s campaign  but the RPOF Chairman isn’t saying if he’s talked to Rubio.

“Regardless of what the outcome is, they have those ongoing discussions, and that’s part of their strategy fro them. I can’t speak to that” says Ingoglia.

Governor Rick Scott has already said he will support whomever is the GOP nominee, but Rubio is now suggesting he won’t support Trump.

The four counties with the most un-returned absentee ballots are:

Pinellas  66,627

Miami Dade 56,171

Broward 43,862

Hillsborough 40,596
